The National Defence University’s research activities support military defence and overall comprehensive security.

The National Defence University is a higher education institution recognized for its military expertise, where research is applied broadly to meet the needs of both the Defence Forces and society. The University’s research activities successfully passed the 2016 audit by KARVI (the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre).

Research activities are increasingly diversified and complemented through collaboration with selected partners, as well as the implementation of research projects partially funded externally. External funding is significant because it allows the University greater flexibility to respond quickly to rapidly changing situations and information needs.
