Continuing education
The purpose of continuing education is to develop the personnel's professional and/or academic skills and to improve the practices in working life.
The Finnish Defence Forces' continuing education is divided into service and branch specific training, Continuing education is provided in 12 fields:

- Military Intelligence
- Operations
- Logistics
- Plans
- Signal
- Training and Education
- Finance
- Legal
- Auditing
- Security
- Public Affairs
The National Defence University coordinates branch specific continuing training and organises academic continuing training and branch specific training in four fields: personnel, operations, plans and training and education. Continuing education is in-house training for Defence Forces', Border Guard, Defence Ministry and partner organisations' personnel.
The courses offered can be found in the Finnish Defence Forces' continuing education calendar which is published annually in August-September.
